Ding Ding.... Hi everyone hope you all had a great Christmas. Maggies in now looking forward to the New Year and our big Hogmanay party which is going to be the best yet.
So if you out rushing about this week getting your bargains we are open all day serving food 11am till 10pm so pop by, take a wee rest, have a bite to eat and a wee drink!! What a weekend, its been party time at Maggies all day and night for that past week and its looking to continue. .. We are in full festive swing and very excited about Christmas and Santa coming....

Christmas is here.... Hi folks,
well the tree is up, the decorations are hung, just waiting on Santa....Its all change at Maggie Mays this month. December brings Comedy back to our venue, with the gigs taking a wee break until Boxing Night. We have some fantastic comedy acts for you every Saturday from 730pm/930pm. The Meatmen have moved to Wednesdays nights from 9pm, and this week sees them perform there for the first time on Nov 30th. We have plenty of live footy on our big screen this mid-week with pick of the bunch, Celtic v A.Madrid, with live commentary.

Led Astray...Scotland’s top Led Zeppelin tribute act is live in Maggie’s basement on Saturday 12th November at 8pm. Tickets are available on Ticketweb, at the bar or on the door on the night. Well after Friday night we definitely know why they call themselves the SENSATIONAL David Bowie tribute act...to say amazing doesn’t describe them what a night!!Big thanks to the guys and all those who came down for the gig and made it such a great night. The big topic on our minds is now Halloween!!!have you got your costumes ready?? We are planning to make it bigger and better than last year so it’s set to be a stormer of a night. We know its landing on a Monday this year but who cares we are celebrating on the Saturday night so make sure you come down!! We have all the usual great stuff on the Saturday but if you’re in fancy dress entry is free to the in the club...yay!!

Hope you had a fun time in Maggies over the last week. If you were in on Friday you would have noticed a new covers band. They all called Splendid Gentlemen and we hope to tie them up to the first Friday of every month. You can see more of them at their website: http://www.splendidgentlemen.com/
Big news this week....we can officially announce The Meatmen will be performing at our Hells Bells Hogmanay party this year. Also lined-up is their cool classic soul band “The Worn Out Souls.” You can see both these acts perform for free....check back here or on our facebook for more details.
This week at Maggies sees The Sensational David Bowie Tribute band return to centre stage. The near sold out gig will commence from 8pm on Friday 14th with support from The Cha Cha Heels. Tickets are £6 and the few remaining can be snapped up at the door on the night.
In the coming weeks, we have A Specials Aftershow at Maggies with special guest Dj on Tuesday 18th. And then on Saturday 29th Oct we will be having our very own Halloween special at Maggies. Its free entry for peeps in fancy dress, and prizes too. Maggies will get a scary makeover for one night only, so be sure to pop down. The last few years Halloween parties have been brilliant, and you can see for yourself on our pics page of the website.

October begins.... Hi folks,
another great week bites the dust at Maggie Mays. But not to worry we have some great action lined up for you this month.
Friday 7th we have a new rock & roll covers band, The Splendid Gentleman. You can have a look at them on there website http://www.splendidgentlemen.com/ or come in for 9pm in the bar and you'll see them live. Its free entry.
On Saturday 8th we will have the Scotland game on our big screen with commentary. There will be a first goal prize kicking about so make sure you get your name in the hat for that one.
The 14th sees Maggies fav tribute band, The Sensational David Bowie Band, return to the venue. You can buy tickets at the bar or on the night. We have had a big uptake on tickets recently so expecting it to be sold out. Doors are at 8pm with the Cha Cha Heels supporting.

Unfortunately there set was shorter than usual cos their drummer broke his arm the morning of the gig, and the replacement (our very own manager Simon) only had two hours to prepare! Pretty good going for the lad! So a big thanks to him and the people that came down....Keep your eyes on our listings for the Volts return!

This week at Maggies sees Scotland hit with another Bank Holiday weekend. So for all you 9-5 Mon to Fri workers, Maggie Mays will be your home away from home this weekend.
We have live bands Thurs-Sun in our venue from 8pm and are open till 3am. On Sunday we have the fabulous funk band The Union performing at 9pm in the bar. Thats a free gig folks, and they are such a great band and would be a shame to miss them as we only have them twice a year!

This week sees live music return to Maggie Mays Venue. We have the amazing Figure 5 performing on Saturday night. We are expecting this to be a sold out gig, so get down early to avoid disapointment.

The Comedy Festival is in full swing now and if you have missed the previous weeks antics then we have much more in store for you. Scott Agnew returns with some festive funnies, along with 3 other comedians. Its only a fiver to get in and will be well worth it. thanks so much to all the bands that performed last week. Especially the Revolver boys, they really made Friday a special night with some classic Beatles tunes. Keep an eye out for there return...
There are few sold out gigs at the Barras this week and if you fancy some more of the same, pop into Maggies and show your gig ticket to gain free access to our nighclub Thursday to Saturday.

Looking ahead we have a great gig lined up for you on St.Paddys night. The Dawn Patrol are confirmed to headline the night in Maggies basement. Doors are 8pm and tickets are a fiver. As of the 18th March, the Magners Comedy Festival hits Maggie mays. This means that every friday & saturday for four weeks we will have the best stand-up comedians in town for only a fiver. Tickets can be puchased in advance at Ticketweb, and there is also a meal deal option available if you wanna grab some food in our award winning restaurant beforehand.

Ok dokey, well another crazy weekend at Maggie’s, anyone that was down Im sure will agree. Big thanks to a cracking weekend of bands brought to us by Indevious and also a massive thanks as always to Dawn Patrol who played on Friday night in the bar – if you want to catch them again or haven’t yet they’ll be playing in the basement on St Paddy’s night.

I hope you all got the chance to see our new murals of Jimmy Page, Blondie & Keith Moon in the club. If you missed out last week, your next chance is Thursday for Shake It Up in the club after bands....We have plenty of other action this week too, with Live Bands on Friday and Saturday in the basement from 8pm, and General Franco will be back on Friday at 8pm in the bar playing rock & indie tracks. Well what a week we’ve had started off with us all up to our knees in snow – haven’t seen this many people wearing wellies since T in the Park!!!Thankfully however it has cleared slightly so that we can all try and get back to normal this week woop woop!!

Hey guys, this week is the beginning of Xmas fun times at Maggies! Be sure to drop in and hear some Xmas tunes along with all your favourite rock & indie classics. This week also sees the start of comedy acts in Maggies’ Basement. We have two shows on the Saturday at 7pm/9pm.

The bar will as always have the best in Rock/Indie/Punk and whatever takes our/your fancy.
Saturday our house band is live in the Main bar at the usual time of 6pm with some good old country rock and roll. Afterwards we have live bands in the club from 8pm brought to you by Get Loose Promotions followed by our much loved Rock shop from 11pm.

Wow! What a week! Maggie Mays was bursting at the seems this week. So so busy! Thanks to all that came down and joined in the fun. We have loads more coming up this week. Its Halloween dont forget, so mind and pick up your costume quick because its free entry to our nightclub if you are in fancy dress. This starts at 11pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

Hey all, thanks so much to all that came down last week. We had Dawn Patrol playing on Friday and the Meatmen on Saturday. The crowd was great and totally enjoyed it. As for next week we have plenty of live bands to check out and if you fancy doing your bit for charity, pop down on Friday night for live bands at 8pm in the basement. If you want to catch all the football this week, just come on down, we will have live commentary for all the big games and there are couches available for reservation.
Halloween is approaching fast and is gonna be very busy, so mind and get down early so as to avoid disappointment. Also got the Stones Roses experience on Friday the 5th of November. There will be fireworks!!!!

Hiya, what a shame Scotland didn’t get a result on Friday against Czechs. It was absolutely heavin for the game and the Tartan Army were in full song for the entire match. Some important dates for the diary – on Fireworks night, 5th Nov, we will have A Stone Roses Experience in the basement. Tickets are £6 and can be purchased at the bar. Bands are on from Thursday to Sunday starting at 8pm and there are plenty of drinks promotions to choose from. We have our own successful club nights that follow the bands, so if you’ve paid to see the bands, you get to stay in till 3am!
On Friday past we have an exceptional performance in the basement by a Maggie Mays favourite, Marcus Bonfanti. He played up at our sister venue Slouch, at 8pm then got whisked down to Maggie Mays at 10pm to play for another hour and a half. Total Legend! And a nice guy into the bargain aswell. Many best wishes for the future Marcus and we shall see you soon.

This week.......... Hiya folks! This has been a monster week at Maggies and one we will never forget!.....Slouch, our sister venue had its opening weekend and I just wanna say a big thanks to all who came along and showed their support. There are plenty of good times ahead at Slouch.
Last week at Maggies’ we had the MGMT boys in for a few drinks before there gig at the Barrowlands and we were glad to have an unofficial after-party for all their fans on Monday and Tuesday night past.
On Friday we had The Kings of Leon Tribute band performing their first ever gig in Glasgow. They blew away the audience with some stunning tracks. Watch this space, as we will be getting the lads back down after such a great debut.
The Union we are joy to behold yet again, as they played some funk & soul classics in the street level bar on Bank Holiday Sunday. Well done guys! It was awesome!
This week we have Marcus Bonfanti returning to Maggies’ Basement on Friday. He is currently touring with his ‘What good am I to you?’ album and has been twice nominated in this year’s British Blues Awards.

Marcus played a stripped down acoustic set and brought along the fantastic Lotte Mullan and Jinder as support. They was excellent as before, and we can expect more from Marcus as he is back with us on Fri 1st Oct. Marcus who is currently touring his ‘What good am I to you?’ album has been twice nominated in this year’s British Blues Awards.

This week at Maggies Hello all. Well that was a wee taste of summer over the weekend. Make sure you are down in the beer garden this weekend for the launch of The World Cup 2010. We are showing every game LIVE with commentary.

The Meatmen make their return on Saturday 19th in time for Paul Mccartneys visit to Glasgow. For one night only the boys will be playing a Beatles heavy set in honor of Macca being in town(The Meatles or the Beatmen?! You Decide..)
Then we have Revolver (The Beatles Tribute) Live in the basement from 8pm.
Saturday and Sunday we will be accepting McCartney tickets as a free pass in the night club. Should be a great weekend, fingers crossed for good weather.

Maggie May Day Part II This Weekend Ok then, what a weekend for sunshine. Lets hope it continues all the way through festival season. We have plenty to keep you occupied this week. Live bands all through Thursday to Sunday and the return of Maggie Mays Day Part II on Sunday for the Bank Holiday.

This week we will be mostly... First of all a big congrats to all who were involved in the McNeil Burns Charity all dayer , loads of money to a great cause and some great music to boot. The joys of American Frat Rock Fans.. What a lovely crowd of people Vampire weekend fans are...makes you wonder why we bother with Oasis/OCS etc anymore (Does anyone?) when the gigs are full of maniacs. A pleasant surprise then on Saturday when the crowd descended on Maggies and ended up staying the rest of the night without so much as a single sweating lunatic being knocked back.
The Rock Shop was fantastic and it was great to have Lee Craig back in the DJ booth after a wee stint in the bar. Heather McCartney will be back in the basement this week so her many fans should start organising buses etc..
This week it’s great to have Firestorm promotions back with us for some live music on Wednesday night. We also have live bands Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the basement from 8pm.

Merry Christmas from everyone at the double M.. Officially Merry Christmas to everyone who has visited Maggies over the festive period. Its been a crazy month and we have been mental busy and loving it.
The guest list for Hogmanay and Boxing Day is now open so hit www.maggiemays.co.uk and get your Evite. Maggies regulars should be aware that on Hogmanay we will be charging entry to both floors to people without an Evite. Its FREE so get yours now and dont be left standing out in the snow (most likely).
On Boxing Day Get Loose Promotions will be back doing what we do best...LIVE MUSIC. The club will be open at 8pm and our Boxing Day Special kicks off at 11pm all the bloody way through till 4am.
Everyone who ends up on the guest list will receive an AAA pass that will entitle the holder to free entry to Maggies Basement for the rest of 2010 and some extras we are holding back to surprise you with in the New Year.

Oh and well done Rage Against the Machine, Gran will be loving the anti establishment sentiment blaring all through the Queens Speech. Although as they are signed to Epic Records a subsidiary of Sony (Simon Cowell) it seems the boys are part of the very machine they so loudly rage against.

Right then secondly a big thanks to all the comedians who performed at the weekend for our Christmas Comedy package and to our resident DJ’s who played a blinder all through the weekend.
We are now sending out E-vites to our Boxing Day and Hogmanay nights. All you have to do to get an invitation is send us an email at info@maggiemays.co.uk with the night you want to come down and a name and email address for you and your party. We will send you your invitation its that simple.
Everyone who attends will be given an Access All Areas pass that is good for 2010. With the pass you will receive free entry to Riot Radio Fridays and The Rock Shop Saturdays. We will also be offering special discounts and extras throughout 2010.
As for this weekend we have the usual happening in the club Friday and Saturday so email us for guest list if your planning on heading down. The Meatmen will again be playing this Wednesday instead of the usual Saturday slot so add that to your (advent) calendar.
Them Beatles return on Sunday and in honour of this we have more isolated vocals from Captain Thumbs aloft himself.

More news from the front line... Them Beatles were fantastic last night as per usual, if you missed them then the guys are playing every Sunday same time same place. We are offering a three course meal and entry to the show on Sundays for only £24.95 give us a phone to book.
As its Christmas time The Meatmen will not be playing their usual slot on Saturday and are instead playing Wednesday night. If your out for the football then swing by as they are going on once the game finishes.
The Basement will be open from 4pm on Friday all the way through until 4am. Its free entry all day until midnight when riot radio kicks off so if your Christmas party is looking for somewhere to go mid afternoon then drop us a line. It will be busy so if you plan on coming down best get here early. Last Friday the dancefloor was full at 5pm (Christmas parties are a bit mental).
We still have limited space for our Thursday night comedy show this week so if your out and about why not check us out. We will be open till 3am upstairs and down.
Its 4am weekends from here till Hogmanay so if your that way inclined (we are) then we shall see you in the small hours.
Our Rock Shop Boxing Day Special and Hells Bells Hogmanay parties are now picking up pace so if you want an Access All Areas pass then contact us via email at info@maggiemays.co.uk. Pass holders receive free entry to both nights and are limited so don’t hang about.

Twisted Wheel DJ Set this Sunday.. This Sunday we have A DJ set from Twisted Wheel who will be fresh from their Paul Weller Tour Support gig at the Barras. Its free entry into the club with a ticket to the Barras gig and we are open till 3am. We have £2 drinks all night and this one will be busy so make sure you come straight back after the gig. As always the street level bar will be open and is the perfect place if your just looking for a cold beer and a chat about the gig.

We have Twisted Wheel playing a DJ set in the Basement on Sunday 29th November to celebrate Paul Wellers return to The Barras. The boys are official tour support for The Modfather so who better to pla you through till the daft hours (Yeah well there’s one person i can think of but he’s a hard man to pin down). Mr Weller is a big fan of the boys so fingers crossed he will make an appearance.
