What makes a great late night venue?
The music, with over 14,000+ songs on offer you won't find yourself
stuck for choice. The latest and greatest to the songs you won't hear
outside your own ipod. At Maggies our aim is that moment when a customer
hears a song and comments 'I have never heard this song played in a bar
before'. When was the last time your favourite song was played in a bar?
When it happens you remember...
Our cocktail menu consists of completely unique to the
venue cocktails and all drinks are named after classic songs and feature
some apt quotes from a rock legend or two.
Down in the Basement...
"Music doesn't lie. If there is something to
be changed in this world, then it can only be changed through music."
Jimi Hendrix
As a live music venue we are proud to say that over
90% of the bands featured on the T Break Stage at 2008 & 2009's T
in the Park had played our venue in the run up to the festival. With stunning
acoustics and a dedicated sound team the basement is fast becoming one
of Glasgows (and beyond) most sought after gigs.
We were recently contacted by Mike Skinner of The
Streets asking if he could DJ in the club after his Barrowlands gig which
ended up packed to the rafters. We regularly have Glasvegas drinking in
the bar and have had Kings of Leon, Paulo Nuttini, Ocean Colour Scene,
Arcade Fire, The View, Jesse Malin, The Saw Doctors, Attic Lights, The
Beta Band and many more playing gigs, as special guest DJ's or just down
for a pint or two after their shows in Glasgow. If that's not enough our
resident Friday night DJ Gordy Goudie is a member of seminal 80's hipsters
Echo & the Bunnymen and recently had time off to play the Royal Albert
Hall in London and Radio City Music Hall in NYC (we gave him the night
off, wouldn't you?)
Our nightclub has over the last two years held sold
out comedy gigs from the likes of Jim Jeffries and Brendan Burns (both
now TV regulars). We have had the cream of Scotland's live music scene
playing live to full houses. Our regular club nights have featured world
renowned DJ's such as Andrew Weatherall and Gary 'Mani' Mounfield brought
in by some of the best young promoters working in Glasgow.
See you at the bar...
