Marcus Bonfanti was back in action on Saturday night. You might remember him from a few weeks ago as he did a gig for us during the Merchant City Festival. Marcus played a stripped down acoustic set and brought along the fantastic Lotte Mullan and Jinder as support. They was excellent as before, and we can expect more from Marcus as he is back with us on Fri 1st Oct. Marcus who is currently touring his ‘What good am I to you?’ album has been twice nominated in this year’s British Blues Awards.

This week at Maggies’ we have great bands lined up on Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Followed by our regular club nights: Shake It Up Thursdays / Riot Radio Fridays / The Rock Shop Satrudays. Its £5/3 entry for these nights and we have drinks promotions from £2. The Meatmen will be back on Saturday @ 6pm.

Finally, if you wanna catch the Scotland game in their Euro 2012 qualifier against Lithuania, you can reserve couches in the bar. Kick off is 7:15pm on Friday.

See you at the bar xx

Coming your way this week...
Firstly, a big thank you to all the acts who made it down this weekend. Both Friday & Saturday where great. A special mention to White Ace who played a great set on Friday night.

This weekend is the Merchant City Festival and instead of opening a stall selling dried fruit or nuts (seems to be a main draw of the festival) we have invited Marcus Bonfanti down to play a set in the bar. This is a must see as Marcus is definitely going to break big this year. If you are following the new blues boom at all you will know his name. Anyone interested in blues guitar should check him out. Its free entry and the show starts at 7pm. Visit www.marcusbonfanti.com and have a listen.

On Saturday night we have The Meatmen live in the bar from 6pm as always. The guys will be playing a selection of Rock n Roll classics and Meatmen originals and always get the place rockin.

As we mentioned a few months ago we are launching a new bar in the city very soon and have been inundated with CV’s. If you are interested in a position from Assistant Manager to Glass Collector just drop us a line at paul@maggiemays.co.uk and look out for ‘Slouch Glasgow’ in the coming weeks .

The joys of American Frat Rock Fans..
What a lovely crowd of people Vampire weekend fans are...makes you wonder why we bother with Oasis/OCS etc anymore (Does anyone?) when the gigs are full of maniacs. The Rock Shop was fantastic and it was great to have Lee Craig back in the DJ booth after a wee stint in the bar. Heather McCartney will be back in the basement this week so her many fans should start organising buses etc..
This week it’s great to have Firestorm promotions back with us for some live music on Wednesday night. We also have live bands Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the basement from 8pm.
